Our floating Surf Hotel, the 19 m-long yacht “Paus” (indon.: whale) lies at anchor against the picturesque backdrop of the Grajagan National Park on the unspoilt eastern coast of Java. At the most, eight surfers share the thrills of the five waves of “Diamond Tip”, a secret spot supreme. The right place for intermediate and advanced surfers where perfect right-handers break far from the madding crowds.
This exclusive surf trip – no one else has it on offer – guarantees you empty line-ups and ensures your seven days will be an absolutely unforgettable experience.
Starting out of Bali, a swift two-and-a-half hour journey with the speedboat (up to 40 knots) will take you to your destination, where Captain Wayan will be waiting to welcome you on board the Paus. Then it’s a week of surfing, angling, snorkelling and chilling, and all this with the most wonderful jungle backdrop.
THE TEAM
Captain Wayan comes from a legendary Bali seafaring family and knows the waters around Bali like the back of his hand.
Along with his crew – a cook and two deckhands – he’ll see to your well-being on board.
THE BOAT
The one-mast yacht “Paus” has a comfortable (communal) cabin sleeping up to 8 persons. The spacious chill area on deck is just the right thing for relaxing after a surf session.
Stoked out, from surfing, you can take your forty winks under the sun sail, or just be “gone fishing” from the stern, or simply hang out in front of the TV.
As far as safety is concerned, the boat really is up to the state of the art with all necessary safety and navigation techniques, life jackets, dinghy, GPS, radio, compasses and charts etc.

THE ROUTE
Obviously we can only give you details of the route up to a certain point, otherwise it wouldn’t be a secret for very long!
As soon as you’re on your floating hotel you can take a swell check from the railing – all that separates you from the peaks is only a few metres and a short trip in the dinghy.
All five of the waves at Secret Java are right-handers. Three are ok for advanced beginners and intermediate surfers, the other two are more for the real cracks.
All waves break over the reef with enough water and, apart from the eight Kima guests, they’re completely empty
BOARD
The menus change every day and are a good combo of Indo and Western food.
They start off with breakfast: toast with various spreads or pancakes, omelettes, bacon and eggs, with coffee or tea.
The main meals have something to suit every taste, e.g. fresh fish and veggies, steak ‘n’ mash, spaghetti bolognese, gado-gado, nasi goreng, spring rolls, soto ayam and sate and lots more.
Throughout the day we serve various snacks and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and all soft drinks are inclusive; beer, wines and spirits can be had on board at reasonable prices.
