As we are always searching for new and good activities for our guests besides surfing, all surf guides checked out the mountain cycling tour on the Easter- weekend. It was great fun…watch the pics:
We started next to Mount Batur with our tour…check out the view!

The tour was supposed to last 4 hours…we did it in 2,5 hours….fast paddling, fast pedaling you know:-).. It went through shady forests…

…and small villages.

But after we did a couple of freestyle exercises like jumping over bootles and off temple walls,

… we had a quite big wear and tear of bikes:

But in the end, everybody arrived savely at the restaurant, where we had lunch and cool drinks.

It was a nice trip, we really can recommend it to you!

The Balinese new year called NYEPI is a special day for every one, because nobody is allowed to go out, making some noise or lights after sunset. No shop is open, no planes are landing, Bali seems to be empty!
The beginning of the new year of the Balinese calender starts with “fooling” the bad deamons. It works like this: in the evening before NYEPI there is a big and loud parade where big monsters called Ogoh-Ogohs are carried through the streets to threaten the bad deamons so they will leave the island. When they come back on the next day they will find Bali abandoned… they will not even find one single soul to steal… no human to drag to the dark side… (remember the “no ones allowed to go out, or make light-thing?”). So the deamons will leave Bali for a long time and all people can start the new year in peace!
Our guest on their way to enjoy the Ogoh-Ogoh parade.

People waiting for the Ogoh-Ogoh parade, some are still praying at the temple.

The Ogoh-Ogohs are build already weeks in advance with much enthusiasm and creativity. Especially the children love to help.

This crature is called “Barong”…it is one of the good guys his dance symbolizes protection from the evil.

Normally there is a bad deamon attacked by the good guys…like here:

Bad deamons are often represented by animals:
